Devi Shree Jaganmatha Prathishta
Salutations to the Divine Mother, the Maha Maya, who is worshiped in the form of Durga, Laxmi and Sarawathi, who is the Divine consort of Lord Shiva. The Maha Maya is the pure Intelligence, the pure imperishable energy, who pervades every form of existence. The Maha Maya is the very essence of creation, preservation and destruction, the Shakti of Brahman, the Absolute. The Maha Maya in the form of the great goddess Durga represents dynamism and power, while she is a benefactor (worldly happiness) in the form of Maha Lakshmi and invokes the absolute knowledge in the form of Maha Saraswathi. With the grace of Maha Maya, in the year 1934, the residents of Venkatraopet colony constructed a small temple and installed the Goddess; the temple was known as Devi temple. As it is observed and commented by great Spiritual Masters, the seed of a banyan tree which in pin head sized, contains a huge banyan tree in it, that grows over a period of time, so also, the small temple constructed by Venkatraopet residents in the year 1934, contained in it a very great future for the benefit of the devotees in the years to come.
As per the divine will, the present structure of the Mothers Temple was constructed in the year 1992. The Prathishta of Devi Shree Jaganmatha was consecrated by his holiness Swami Paramartha Nandaji, the then President of Sri Ramakrishna Math, Hyderabad on 23rd August 1992.
Apart from regular Pooja with abhisekaham, Pournami pooja was initiated from 1993 onwards. In the same year Laksharchana was performed. Since then every Anniversary pooja is being celebrated for 3 days, from 21st to 23rd August, with Laksharchana, Sri Lalita Homam, Tridevi Homam and the 3rd day concludes with Pushpanjali to the Mother of Universe Devi Shree Jaganmatha. During the year 2001, by the divine will, Koti Kumkuma Archna was performed to Mother on a Grand Scale.

Nitya Lalitha Shasranama Parayanam
The most wonderful milestones of the temple has been Nitya Lalitha Shasranama Parayanam, which was initiated on 24th October, 2003 at 7:00 PM, on a Diwali day.The Nitya Lalitha Shasranama Parayanam started on that auspicious day, is being continued every day,due to the relentless efforts of jaganmatha women devotees, till date, without interruption. We salute all the devotees who made it possible for uninterrupted daily parayanam of Sri Lalitha Shasranama and also look forward to continue the same as long as possible. We can also proudly announce that because of this nithya parayanam every day, between 7pm to 7.45 pm, at least 3000 devotees must have learnt Sri Lalitha Shasranama Parayanam.
As the Nitya Lalitha Shasranama Parayanam became very popular, hundreds of devotees started attending the parayanam. The chief patron of the temple felt the need for a book that contains all the slokas that are sung at the temple every day to be compact manner in one book. This lead to the printing of Telugu books (6000 copies) and Tamil books (3000) for free distribution to the devotees, which was released by this Holiness Swami Gouranga Nandaji of Rama Krishna matt Hyderabad on 10th July 2005. The latest print of Telugu version (3000 copies) has Sri Lalitha Namavali also. With the help of the books many temples and groups have started Sri Lalitha Shasranama Parayanam even including foreign countries. On 6 th of May 2005, with Mothers Blessings on every Tuesday and Fridays, We have started collective prayer for the benefit of devotees.
Pradosha Pooja
Pradosha kaalam is the time when day ends and night begins, that is between 4.30 to 6.00 pm. Pradosha pooja is performed once in every 15 days on thirteenth day (Triyodasi thithi) after Amavasya (new moon day) or Pournami (full moon day). It is believed that if Pradosha pooja is observed in reverence to Lord Shiva on triyodasi day, between 4.30 to 6.00 pm, it relieves us from sins and leads us to moksha.
At Devi Shree Jaganmatha temple Pradosha kaala pooja is performed with great devotional fervour on both the Triyodasi thithi of every month to Shiva linga in the Shiva temple. The pooja begins at 4.30 pm with Kalasa pooja after invoking lord Ganesha. After kalasa pooja, Namakam and chamakam are recited and Rudra abhishekam is performed to Shiva Linga (Kashi Vishwanatha Swami) with eleven articles (milk, curd, sugar, honey, ghee/oil, tender coconut water, panchamritam, turmeric, chandan, swarna and veboodhi). Rudra abhishekam is followed by alnkaaram and ashtothra namaavali pooja. The pooja concludes with prasaad distribution to devotees. During the Rudra abhishekam many devotees recite Namakam and Chamakam and sing the glory of Lord Shiva with devotional fervour. Every fortnight it is a spiritual treat to watch this pooja.
According to purana, Devas and Asuras(Demons) were churning for Amrutham from Kseerabti milk ocean, employing the serpent Vasuki and the hill Mandharan. On Ekadasi day, the serpent Vasuki, which was used as a rope to churn the milk ocean, emitted dangerous poison called Ahala Visham. The poison made the devas weak and almost killed them. Fearing for their lives all the Devas ran to Lord Shiva and prayed and requested Him to save them from this disaster. The Lord Shiva, who is Karunamurthy immediately swallowed the poison, but soon Parvathi Devi happened to witness this act of Mahadev, held the throat of Mahadeva (Shiva) and stopped the poison at the throat. Due to the poison stuck at the throat, the throat became blue, thus Shiva came to be called Nilakandan (Blue coloured throat). Siva then became drowsy and slept on the lap of Parvathi.
After the poison was consumed by Shiva the Devas and Asuras continued churning for Amrutham. On Dhwadhasi day i.e., twelfth moon day, amurtham came and Devas and Asuras started celebrating their victory.
On Thriyodasi day all the Devas, Brahma, Vishnu and the Saptarishis went to have darshan of Lord Shiva. They were promptly stopped by Nandi who asked them all to come after some time, as Lord Shiva was resting. Realizing their mistake of not thanking Lord Shiva, they prayed seeking his grace and waited for His blessings. When Lord Shiva woke up at Pradosha kaalam, all the Devas became extremely happy and started praising the Lord. Lord Shiva became ecstatic and began dancing (Ananda Thandavam) between the horns of the Holy Bull, the Nandhi, with Parvathi on his side. This day, the Devas, Brahma, Vishnu, Narada and Saptarishis had Shiva and Parvathi’s, “Ananda Narthana” darshan. This Ananda Narthana occured between 4.30 to 6.00pm (Pradosha kalam), on a Krishnapaksha Triyodasi (Stiravaaram, Saturday) day, which is known as the Mahapradosham day. Hence, Pradhosha kaalam on a Triyodasi day is a significant occasion observed with great piety by all Shiva devotees. During Pradosha pooja, abhisekham and archana are performed to Nandi Bhagwan also.
It is generally believed that performing abhisekam during the Pradhosha time on a Triyodasi day, to Lord Shiva or to his incarnation, the Lingam, with devotion bestows material as well as spiritual gains.
